Fully Funded Swiss Government Scholarship 2023

The State Secretariat for Education deals with various files related to grants. Her work relates in part to federal cantonal subsidies for grant spending to Swiss students.

About the Swiss Government Scholarship:

Each year, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and more than 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission on Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s or doctoral degree and foreign artists with a bachelor’s degree.

Types of scholarships offered by the Swiss government:

Research Scholarship:

Available to postgraduate researchers in any discipline (with a minimum of a master’s degree) who plan to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further studies at the doctoral or post-doctoral level.

Research grants are awarded for research or study at all Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and Federal Institutes of Technology, as well as the four research institutes. Only candidates who are nominated by an academic teacher at one of these higher education institutions will be considered.

Technical Scholarships:

Open to art students wishing to obtain an initial master’s degree in Switzerland.

Art Scholarships are awarded to study at any Swiss Conservatoire or University of the Arts. This scholarship is available to students from a limited number of countries only.

So the Swiss Government Scholarship is available for researchers, PhD and Masters students.

  • Postdoctoral Scholarships: 12 months
  • PhD Scholarship: 12 months (starting in September) extendable up to 36 months based on academic results achieved
  • Master’s Scholarships: 12 months
